Ytptenniswiki:About
ytptenniswiki is a wiki that's sole focus is everything about YTP Tennis and anything related that would be useful for a video tennis player/enthusiast. While the site is still greatly a work in progress, the goal is to document basically anything anyone would want to know when it comes to tennis stuff.
Contributions are made solely by the webmaster and the Tennis Staff. DIRECT public contribution, due to the hosting situation and the nature of a community like this, likely will never happen. However, anyone can suggest things to add to the site! It just has to go through the staff (or myself) first.
There are several distinct stylistic changes I wish to impose that set this apart from Chewiki and other similar projects:
- There are no pooper pages. There is less of an emphasis on players themselves (except for staff) to remove potential personal biases (and people wanting to wipe their embarrassing works a decade from now). Personal templates that show all different usernames of a player will likely be all that will exist of this.
- Less of a focus on YTP - only the things that apply to both YTP and tennis.
- Contributions will be done by trusted people only. Almost everything I would be preferred to write from scratch, as Chewiki is full of outdated and possibly incorrect information. While historical facts, for example, likely will be taken from there, the plan is to rephrase it in a better way when migrating to a new site.
Hopefully this site will fill the gap that is tennis resources and keeps the sport alive for many years to come. I've been around for quite a long time; time to give back to the community I love.

Guidelines for Editors
Please keep these in mind when working on new pages / updating old ones.
- Do NOT import templates/modules from elsewhere without given permission. These can break the site and can cause a whole multitude of problems if not done right! Player aliases are fine, however - feel free to add those.
- As mentioned above, no pooper pages, including for yourself. (The User:USER pages are OK.)
- Feel free to take requests from other users to go through you - they may not be able to edit, but they can still contribute!
- Maintain Objectivity. Avoid saying things are "good" or "bad", if you do, use the third person. For example: "This match is often considered the best of its time..."
- As it is a historical artifact, referencing Chewiki and similar sites is pretty much a necessity. But please do not quote it verbatim. It is a decade long hodge-podge of god knows what, and it is important that only the necessary (and correct) stuff moves here.
- When uploading images/assets, please change the filename to something relevant to the image, rather than leaving it as "8970Efas9df7asd.PNG". Captions are useful, but not when trying to find said file!
- Add references whenever possible so claims can be backed up, etc. Source pages are generated automatically, so be sure to add a "=Sources=" header to the very bottom of the page (should be the last thing in the document) in order to separate the generated references from the rest of the page's content.

Templates
Page Templates
These are template pages that can be filled in with their respective information.
Notable Match Page
A page for making templates of a notable match. Can be found here.
Bracket Templates
All bracket templates start and end with double braces.
Alias Templates
People change their username online. This can be for a variety of factors, and it is important that this is kept up to date. Thus, templates exist for players that may have multiple usernames - for example, RapskallionXYZ. One can mouse over one of these names to see anything else they may have went by.
The current, up-to-date way to create aliases is to use the Template:Alias template. More instructions can be found there.
Templates that use older names should redirect to one "main" alias page. Remember to pass the "U" parameter or matchboxes will break!
Staff Templates
All current and former members of the Tennis Staff have yellow names: for example, ChrisGendo. All staff have their own templates, even if they don't have alternate names, just to turn their names yellow; use them whenever possible as there is currently no way to automatically parse them as such.
Message Boxes
Currently, message boxes exist for the following situations:
- Stub: A page is nowhere close to complete and needs significant work done
- WIP: A page is almost done, has most basic information, but still needs more
- InProgress: The page's subject matter is currently ongoing and may change suddenly
- PrivateVideo: Put this under a video that is currently private/lost. Use a different one for each private video (not one per article).
More are expected as need necessary.
Matchboxes
A "match box" is a box that can be used to put basic information about a tennis match. The current version is "V2" and should be used instead of V1 so updates retain to each one across the site.
Their documentation can be found here.
The following navigation boxes ("navboxes") exist for ease of communication across the site:
- Tournaments: Lists all canon tennis tournaments.
- Types: Lists all common types of tennis.
More are expected as need necessary.
