A Self Tennis or a self-match is a tennis match where a single player volleys their own rounds. These can be any other type of tennis, but only one person is involved - almost like hitting against a wall for as long as you can!

Many of these projects are often Endurance Matches, with players seeing how far they can get until they eventually lose interest.

The very first documented self-tennis was between staff member strong414bad from late fall to December 2nd, 2007. strong414bad referred to the concept as a "revolution" while others simply said he "needed a life".[1] An article about this match can be found here. Despite the mixed opinions, self-matches became a mainstay in the years to come.

Layout

Self tennis matches are relatively simple; from the perspective of a 1v1, you are both players! So everything you build you end up responding to.

  • The serve is made like normal.
  • Round 2 is made by you, using the rendered video.
  • And so on, as far as you like.

Notable Matches

Self Tennis Collab - a collaboration by nonojuju revolving around this topic, where each round is one second longer than the last (additive time).

While Missadaxio claims to be a self-tennis, it is actually a collaboration of multiple people and does not count. It acts as a remnant of earlier usage in a predecessor project.
