ytptenniswiki is a wiki that's sole focus is everything about YTP Tennis and anything related that would be useful for a video tennis player/enthusiast. Contributions are made solely by the webmaster and the Tennis Staff. DIRECT public contribution, due to the hosting situation and the nature of a community like this, likely will never happen. However, anyone can suggest things to add to the site! It just has to go through the staff (or myself) first.
There are several distinct stylistic changes between ytptenniswiki, Chewiki and other similar projects:

* There are no pages for individual players ("pooper pages"). Pages about players can quickly become personal and biased, and goes beyond the scope of the wiki.
There are several distinct stylistic changes I wish to impose that set this apart from Chewiki and other similar projects:
* There are no pooper pages. There is less of an emphasis on players themselves (except for staff) to remove potential personal biases (and people wanting to wipe their embarrassing works a decade from now). Personal templates that show all different usernames of a player will likely be all that will exist of this.
* Less of a focus on YTP - only the things that apply to both YTP and tennis.

* Contributions will be done by trusted people only. Almost everything I would be preferred to write from scratch, as Chewiki is full of outdated and possibly incorrect information. While historical facts, for example, likely will be taken from there, the plan is to rephrase it in a better way when migrating to a new site.

Hopefully this site will fill the gap that is tennis resources and keeps the sport alive for many years to come. I've been around for quite a long time; time to give back to the community I love.

* Who played in it
* The start and end times (if possible)
* 1-2 notable images and quotes from the match

Theatrically or independently released films and short films are written in italics with release year in parentheses, such as Only Lovers Left Alive(2013). Golden age animated shorts(old cartoons) that were shown in theaters count for this designation, and are usually prefaced with any starring characters, the series it was otherwise released under, or the director who made it, such as "the Bugs Bunny short Tortoise Beats Hare(1941)" or "the Merrie Melodies short Have You Got Any Castles?(1938)" or "the Tex Avery short King-Sized Canary(1949)".

TV series, anime series and OVAs are written in italics with no release year to accomodate for the spans of time shows generally last as a minor formality, such as The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog or Devilman Crybaby. If an OVA is a single episode long, such as Mighty Bean(1989), this is appropriate to list a release year for.

Video games are written in italics with both the system the game was released for, or otherwise the version that was used in a match, along with the release year both in parentheses, such as Super Mario World(SNES, 1990) and Elden Ring(PC/PS4, 2022). Music used from video games are notated by potential song title in quotes, along with the game OST it's from, such as "the track "Hoohoo Mountaintop" from the Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga(GBA, 2003) OST."

Songs released by music artists are written in quotes with the release year in parentheses, either with the artist or band in front, such as "the Genesis song "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight" (1986)", or after, such as ""Under Pressure"(1981) by Queen and David Bowie". Use cases for either will vary. Songs from film soundtracks are notated with the song in quotes and the film written in italics with release year in parenthesis, with the designation of the song being from its soundtrack, such as "the song "Ice Dance" from the Edward Scissorhands(1990) OST".

Internet videos or other tennis rounds/YTPs are generally written in quotes with the release year in parentheses if available, followed by the creator or uploader, such as "something for the hard of thinking"(2008) by conradslater. If the internet video used is unknown, nondistinct, or otherwise can't be found, a basic general description is acceptable. If the internet video is very context specific in what it depicts, a reproduction of its original title embedded with a link to that video is considered optimal, such as the various Touhou videos linked on the ChrisGendo vs. TheChutley vs. trepmaws(2010) page.

Images, soundbytes or meme content are usually given general descriptions, with source material recommended if possible. If the sources used are already documented by the players involved in some way, those can be used appropriately if there is no other way to notate or describe that source, usually with their wording in quotes to let the reader know that it's how that player describes it. An example of this is conradslater's usage of "wairwolf screaming at a snake".

Creating a Tool Page
Tool pages (like video editors) are only necessary if they have documentation that goes beyond a simple summary, such as tips and tricks. When this is the case, there may already be an entry on its related category page, such as List of Video Editors. If not, or if you realize an expansion is possible, make a page and add the related data.

Citing Sources
Make sure to cite everything that you find, if possible. It is important we show our integrity! If adding sources, they will appear as a "Resources" section at the bottom of the article. Make sure to add a "Sources"/etc. header at the bottom or it'll just append to the last section, which could look cluttered and messy.

ytptenniswiki is a wiki that's sole focus is all aspects pertaining and related to Video Tennis. The goal is to document anything anyone would want to know when it comes to this community, being useful for players and enthusiasts alike.

There are several distinct stylistic changes between ytptenniswiki, Chewiki and other similar projects:

 • There are no pages for individual players ("pooper pages"). Pages about players can quickly become personal and biased, and goes beyond the scope of the wiki.
 • Less of a focus on YTP - only the things that apply to both YTP and tennis.
 • Contributions will be done by trusted people only. Almost everything I would be preferred to write from scratch, as Chewiki is full of outdated and possibly incorrect information. While historical facts, for example, likely will be taken from there, the plan is to rephrase it in a better way when migrating to a new site.

Guidelines for Editors

To prevent vandalism and maintain a quality standard, only the Tennis Staff by default are allowed to edit the site. Other trusted members of the community can also apply to edit the wiki directly. If you are interested in contributing, go to the discord help server.

Please keep these in mind when working on new pages / updating old ones.

 • Do NOT import templates/modules from elsewhere without given permission. These can break the site and can cause a whole multitude of problems if not done right! Player aliases are fine, however - feel free to add those.
 • As mentioned above, no player/"pooper" pages, including for yourself. (The User:USER pages are OK.)
 • Feel free to take requests from other users.
 • Maintain Objectivity. Avoid saying things are "good" or "bad", if you do, use the third person. For example: "This match is often considered the best of its time..."
 • As it is a historical artifact, referencing Chewiki and similar sites is pretty much a necessity. But please do not quote it verbatim. Chewiki had very little quality control, so be sure to cross-reference with other sources if possible.

Looking for something to do? Check Special:ShortPages and Special:WantedPages. These have the shortest pages or things that are missing, respectively. We also have a spreadsheet that shows planned notable match pages, as well as the ability to add new suggestions.

Creating a Match Page

Written by dani_phantump. Especially important when writing sources for a match!

Templates

Page Templates

These are template pages that can be filled in with their respective information.

Notable Match Page

A page for making templates of a notable match. Can be found here.

Bracket Templates

All bracket templates start and end with double braces.

Alias Templates

People change their username online. This can be for a variety of factors, and it is important that this is kept up to date. Thus, templates exist for players that may have multiple usernames - for example, RapskallionXYZ. One can mouse over one of these names to see anything else they may have went by.

The current, up-to-date way to create aliases is to use the Template:Alias template. More instructions can be found there.

Templates that use older names should redirect to one "main" alias page. Remember to pass the "U" parameter or matchboxes will break!

Staff Templates

All current and former members of the Tennis Staff have yellow names: for example, ChrisGendo. All staff have their own templates, even if they don't have alternate names, just to turn their names yellow; use them whenever possible as there is currently no way to automatically parse them as such.

Message Boxes

Currently, message boxes exist for the following situations:

 • Stub: A page is nowhere close to complete and needs significant work done
 • WIP: A page is almost done, has most basic information, but still needs more
 • InProgress: The page's subject matter is currently ongoing and may change suddenly
 • PrivateVideo: Put this under a video that is currently private/lost. Use a different one for each private video (not one per article).

More are expected as need necessary.

Matchboxes

A "match box" is a box that can be used to put basic information about a tennis match. The current version is "V2" and should be used instead of V1 so updates retain to each one across the site.

Their documentation can be found here.

Navboxes

The following navigation boxes ("navboxes") exist for ease of communication across the site:

 • Types: Lists all common types of tennis.

More are expected as need necessary.

Resources

This section has resources for wiki-building elements.
