Tennis Mini-Competition

The Tennis Mini-Competition was a small scale tennis event that took place between November 4, 2012 and January 18, 2013. Intended to be a stopgap event between the recently concluded Tennis Cup 4 and the imminent Triples Tennis Tournament, it was jointly hosted by AshcrementVII, trepmaws, dani_phantump and GameBop, who acted as both judges and the respective creators of the odd rounds of this event. All except dani_phantump were active members of the tennis staff at the time; dani_phantump would not join the staff until nearly 7 years later, after the three other members had long since retired.

Taking the form of one giant 8 "round" match, the layout was for each host to contribute an "odd" round and for any number of players to make their own "even" round in response, with subsequent hosts then making the next odd round using every previous response that was contributed. AshcrementVII kicked off the event with the serve, trepmaws made Round 3, dani_phantump made Round 5, and GameBop made Round 7. The dominant sources of the event from the serve onward were the Goofy shorts Tennis Racquet(1949) and How To Play Baseball(1942), with added sources from this point onward running the gamut across subsequent players' interests. The subforum icons for the tennis section on YouChew were soon after changed to moments and quotes from the former cartoon. A running theme for multiple responses was super-imposing Goofy's head from the title cards of the original cartoons onto other cartoon/animated title sequences, which included the Warner Bros/Seven Arts era of Looney Tunes shorts and the Pink Panther animated short series, among several others.

12 maximum participants contributed across the event, being the first tennis event of any kind to feature imoutofideas1, Viravax and Cornflakes, and the only event to feature the participation of MonsterSumoble(IceSumo), ConsultingCriminal, and ttipoopfinal. NEVERGONNAGETIT92000 joined the event after having not participated in anything since the Tennis Season, and eletricalmonkss joined after having not participated in anything since the Grey Tennis Tournament.

One of the more memorable moments of the event was when MonsterSumoble contributed his Round 4, which interrupted an otherwise minimally edited round with openly uncensored porn, resulting in its immediate removal from YouTube to the bemusement of all who witnessed. It was reuploaded by GameBop on a small alt account with MonsterSumoble's avatar acting as a censor bar over the offending regions. The layout of this event remained dormant for nearly a decade until the Tennis Mini-Competition II happened during the ill-fated YouChew revival.

While every video was made to suggest a complete event, the final submitted reviews were never revealed and no winner was ever declared for the event. It is considered that the winner would have likely been vel 17 due to them winning the first three sets.

Layout

A designated "server" served, then a larger number of people volleyed that serve. Then, each round would be reviewed and given a score. Next, another designated player would make a "round 3" combining all of the round two's, and that same group of people would volley again. This went about eight times, and the person with the highest score won.

AshcrementVII contributed another unofficial response in this round, under a similar sentiment as previously. GameBop and AshcrementVII would subsequently play each other in the Multi-Way Tennis Tournament.
