GameBop vs. AjaxCubed was a YouTube Poop tennis match played as a part of the Grey Tennis Tournament, taking place between December 19, 2009 and January 12, 2010. It was part of the Set 2 lineup of matches in this tournament, with GameBop having previously defeated Combuskenisawesome, and AjaxCubed having previously been given a bye when ThaNuke dropped out of the tournament. It was their second time playing against each other in a tournament setting, they had previously faced each other on opposite teams in the final match of the Doubles Cup 1.
Considered to be one of the highlight matches of the entire tournament, it is well known for, in the words of trepmaws, the "sheer creativity" of GameBop's side and for the "sheer entertainment" of AjaxCubed's side. Sources used in this match are eclectic, and include Moi Renart, the intro for the puzzle game The Incredible Toon Machine, Kings Quest VII, Tron(1982), Time Squad, Homestuck(originally listed as MSPaint Adventures), an informercial for "My Lil Reminder", a late 80s commercial for Muzzy, the film Ransom(1996)("GIVE ME BACK MY SON") and Kukori Es Kotkoda. Round 1 of this match, "Sid is not a BATTLE AXE"(2009), has gone on to become one of GameBop's signature works, consisting of its initial sources edited in musical syncopation to the song "Feeling Good!" from the Squaresoft game Threads of Fate(1999). Additionally, Round 5 is remembered for the entirety of the previous round being chroma keyed inside of the otherwise unedited intro of Kukori Es Kotkoda, and AjaxCubed's Round 6 is remembered for being a sheer comedic and energetic adrenaline rush, having become fondly embraced by newer generations of the tennis community.
It was the 41st match completed by GameBop[1] and the final tennis match to be completed by AjaxCubed. The match was heavily acclaimed by contemporary viewers including TheChutley, trepmaws, JakeSteel, McMANGOS and MycroProcessor, the latter of whom considered this to be one of his favorite tennis matches of all time even before it had finished. With AjaxCubed's original uploads being automatically deleted by YouTube in August 2019, the original files were saved by AjaxCubed himself and later reuploaded by VidTens443 shortly thereafter, preserving the match in its complete state. GameBop would win this match by only a single vote with the raw scores of 7 to 6, though AjaxCubed's penalties would lower this to 7 to 3.
Both GameBop and AjaxCubed would receive the "Tennis Fuck Choice Award" for this match, given by MycroProcessor.
