The Gachapon League is an unofficial Tennis Tournament hosted by TheChutley on YellowTealPurple in October of 2025. This tournament focuses on the collaborative side of tennis as it tinkers the idea of assigning players into pods, pinning the blueprints of the HardcoreMormonFuckingMachine collaborative channel from Tennis League 4 (which TheChutley was also involved in.) The nature of the matches involving four players all collaborating in some way together makes them the second earliest examples of Quadruples Tennis, after the first one.
A "pod" is similar to that of a "team" of tennis players, which only seldom has been explored since the Tennis Season as well as the ill-fated Super Teams Tennis. Each one had their own name and personality. A friendly yet competitive nature was developed, with teams encouraged to talk smack to each other in a dedicated thread.[1]
The tournament is one of the first tennis events of its kind (as well as in general) to use the Collaboration feature on YouTube, introduced around August 2025.[2] Videos were all uploaded to a special channel (also called Gachapon League) where collaborators could be mentioned in the channel section.
Rules
Once players sign up in this tournament, they are assigned into random groups of 4 players each. Each of these groups then becomes one "pod" that faces against another "pod" with a different set of 4 players. Pulls on this tournament involve a poll being created on the main league thread after each set, and this allows players and anyone spectating to vote to randomize the players inside the pods to form new pods, similar to pulling a lever on a Gachapon machine. Continuing on the YellowTealPurple thread:
- No max contribution duration limit, players must each contribute a minimum of 10 seconds each — meaning with 3 players per pod, minimum would be 30sec; with 4 players, it would be 40sec.
- No voting; league ends after 4 "pulls"
- No deadline, but match fails after 10 days without an update.[3]
