Grey Tennis Tournament

The Grey Tennis Tournament, also known as GTT or erroneously the Gray Tennis Tournament was a Tennis Tournament held between August 2009 and April 2010. It was co-hosted between TheChutley and vvaluigi.

History

According to co-host TheChutley, the naming of Grey Tennis Tournament was chosen due to its simplicity and its standardized elimination format.

"It's not supposed to be unique at all, it really is just a standard 6 round tournament. That's why we named it the 'Gray [sic] Tennis Tourney'."

The tournament was organized very similarly to the first Tennis Cup. Due to these similarities, it was officially recognized as the 3rd Tennis Cup (the 2nd one being the Windows Movie Maker Master).

Rules

The rules for the Grey Tennis Tournament were detailed as follows:

- 6 Rounds Per Match
- 32 Players (Extended due to popularity, from the original roster of 16 players).
- 3 Day Turnover (72 hours)

Sources that can be added per round (excluding round 1):

- 0 Sources Minimum
- 3 Sources Maximum

Anything visual is considered a source. Such examples of that are:

- Any video media source
- Any visual picture

In contrast, audio-only sources (songs, sound clips, etc.) do not count as a source.

Time Requirements:

- 0:30 - 3:00

Penalties:

- 3 Votes for going over the 72 hour limit
- 2 Votes for incorrect source usage (using over 3 sources).
- 2 Votes for incorrect time length (under 30 seconds, over 3 minutes).

Voting

The official voting time period occurred after every game in the tier finished, but matches could be voted on once they finished. Players had one week to vote. The votes were cast via private message to an official voting account called "Tails". The player who receives the most votes in their match moves onwards in the tournament.
There was a caveat in the voting rules, which stipulated that any match that was not finished by the time the vote week started, the player who made their rounds faster would move on to the next set of the tournament.
Voting closed for each vote week at 11:59pm, in the Pacific Time Zone (PT)

The voting week for Set 1 lasted from December 8th - 14th, 2009.
The voting week for Set 2 lasted from January 15th - 22nd, 2010.
