A Multi-Way, of X-Way Match is a tennis type that involves a larger amount of people per rotation than normal (two or more).
Layout
Multi-Way matches are relatively similar to a normal 1v1, however more people are involved in a linear sense. This makes them move like a 1v1v1, 1v1v1v1, etc.
For example, in a 3-way match:
- Player A serves.
- Player B makes round 2.
- Player C makes round 3.
- The rotation repeats, with player A making round 4.
- ...and so on, usually up to three rotations (like a regular match).
Tournaments
This concept was explored to the extreme during 3WTT and MWTT; the latter had multi-ways of up to six people!
