RabbitSnore vs. Crash2991

Standard; Wildcard

"I can't watch anymore..."
Start Date October 20th, 2008
End Date November 26th, 2008
Rounds 6
Participants RabbitSnore, Crash2991

RabbitSnore vs. Crash2991 was a YouTube Poop tennis match that took place on the YouChew forums between October 20 and November 26, 2008. It was the very first match of the Wildcard variant, and it was played between the two oldest active regulars of RabbitSnore's old "Tennis Cafe" threads, intending to be played in an "old-school" style reminiscent of the earliest tennis protocol where a "winner" would be decided for the match at its conclusion. Sources added include Das Boot (1981), Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, Kamen Rider, Lupin III: The Mystery of Mamo (1978), the Gorillaz G-Bites short "Game of Death" (2002), Meet The Sniper, Sonic OVA, Read or Die, and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Initially planned to possibly go for more than six rounds, Crash announced after Round 6 had been completed that the match was over, "Or maybe, it's a large sign saying 'To Be Continued.' Who knows, but this is the end for this. There could be another meeting at some other time. This just proves that we are unsure to how things will turn out." It was the 23rd complete match to be played by RabbitSnore and the 13th match to be completed by Crash2991[1]. RabbitSnore's rounds for this match have remained lost since the deletion of his channel in October 2019. Considered in the modern day to be a classic match played between two of tennis's best and earliest nonetheless beset by video titles seen as very unfriendly to modern YouTube's "inappropriate content" detection systems, Crash2991's rounds remain off of YouTube even though they have been preserved.

Background

Crash2991 first came up with the variant of Wildcard tennis on January 31, 2008, only a few days after the original Tennis Cafe thread had been started by Rabbit. Rabbit himself had expressed initial interest in such a tennis variant at the time. With both players in the months since becoming wrapped up in both other tennis matches and other activities such as Rabbit's subsequent work as an Admin of the post-Conrad Slater YouChew forums, the prospect of them playing a match with each other was put on hold. Crash would periodically bring up the possibility of a Wildcard match in the Cafe thread, taking the occasional step to refine the rules of how Wildcard tennis would work. In his initial draft, Round restrictions would be applied to every rotation after the initial one, rather than each round including the serve. RabbitSnore would return to the Cafe after a period of inactivity and busyness with real life in October 2008, reflecting on how long its been (a matter of months) since he was able to engage with tennis entirely. This became the impetus for Rabbit and Crash, who had now become considerably old friends at this point, to finally take each other on in a proper tennis match, and it was here that the final official rules for Wildcard Tennis were ironed out between the two: for each Round, the opposing player would give a restriction to the other, which would be traded back and forth for however many rounds. RabbitSnore and NS2 also agreed to play what would become their three-round Metal Gear Solid themed match around the same time, though this would be undertaken after this match became considered completed.

His match chronology goes Gallers, scimath12, sonicmstr, Luioigi, NS2, RAKninja, strong414bad, uncle69er, FourTwoNineStudios, Temeku (never listed), HighVoltageChrist, RetroTheRaccoon and then RabbitSnore.
