TheChutley vs. ChrisGendo was a YouTube Poop/Video tennis match that took place between August 29, 2010 and November 30, 2012. Commencing just over a year after their first match, this was the second of three times that ChrisGendo and TheChutley played each other directly, the third overall match in which in which they participated together in volleying sequence, and the fourth match involving them both entirely. Sources added include the music video for "The Safety Dance"(1982) by Men Without Hats, The Room(2003), The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Bakemonogatari, K-ON!, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Psych(applied with a blue tint, in homage to NS2), the Donald no uwasa commercials featuring Ronald McDonald, the "Nitori Get Down" flash animation created by kitsuneiro in 2008, images of the Touhou character Yuuka Kazami, images of the Pokemon Glaceon and Kirlia (meant to respectively represent the two players), the album cover for A Farewell to Kings(1977) by Rush, the ROBOT BUNNY BOOBIES image taken from Beast Wars Neo: Super Life-Form Transformers as first utilized by RAKninja, a PNG of Majora's Mask, the Yes song "Roundabout"(1971), the King Crimson songs "Red"(1974) and "21st Century Schizoid Man"(1969), the Rush songs "Bastille Day"(1975), "Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage"(1977) and "Madrigal"(1977), the Lon song "Ochame Kinou (10M view memorial ver.)"(2010), the Deftones song "Street Carp"(2000)("OHHHHH I FORGEEET"), the Aesop Rock song "None Shall Pass"(2007), the Kalafina song "Oblivious"(2008) and the track "Song of Healing" from the The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask(N64, 2000) OST[Note: source list incomplete]. With over a year passing between Round 6 and 7, the match's final rotation is remembered for taking a sharp experimental pivot, driven largely by minimally edited/reversed solo guitar chords from King Crimson's "One More Red Nightmare"(1974) to establish a tense mood across spacious pacing before an energetic, musical finale.
It was the 54th match played by both TheChutley and ChrisGendo, the most recent to-date non-tournament match completed by the latter player and one that fully encompassed her tenure as a member of the tennis staff. With their first match being seen as the most oriented around heavy editing and their currently-ongoing third match being seen as the most oriented around comedic editing, this match is seen as a very precise, cohesive blend of the two approaches, occurring while both players were operating at the apex of their classic styles in addition to representing the peak of their early years of close friendship. Many injokes, direct exchanges of written dialogue, and whimsical, playful comedic moments are traded across every round in the match; a recurring motif involves the repeated use of the song "Mr. Suicide"(2006) by 9mm Parabellum Bullet, initially used to underscore Tommy Wiseau's character in the The Room literally committing suicide by gunshot and subsequently being used to underscore any event of (potentially fatal) misfortune that befalls multiple different characters across the match until about Round 6. The round titles of this phase of the match are also a mixture of parodies of common YTP titling tropes and a couple direct references to other videos completely, including the first YTP that ChrisGendo ever made[1]. The passage of time allowed Round 7 and 8 to be a lot more free-form and less bound to the sufficiently explored ideas previously in the match, allowing it to finish on an interesting and satisfying high note.
It was first compiled into a single video in April/May 2011 as an incomplete match, during a strange period in which TheChutley's account was briefly suspended, and later recompiled with the final two rounds as a complete match in June 2023. ChrisGendo's final round occurred during her short-lived "Fujiyama Gangsta Breaks"/"chrisgendo 2.0" period of 2012-2013, with this body of work eventually being the only era of her output to get subsequently deleted from YouTube, but the round was preserved by TheChutley allowing the full match to remain intact.
