Stutter Loops
(not to be confused with STAMMER.)
Stutter Loops are the process of repeating a single, very short sequence of video/audio over and over again to create a 'buzzing' or 'stuttering' effect.
Stutter Loop Plus
The 'plus' in tennis terms generally refers to the addition of more edits on top of the base technique. In the case of stutter loops, this means that every stuttered frame has a different effect applied to it, creating an even more trippy and faced paced effect.
Stutter Loop Minus
Hyperstuttering
(i don't remember the exact name)
This is a technique that lets you create very high pitched buzzing noises with incredible variance.
You need two tools to make this work:
- A video/audio editor that lets you loop a bounded over and over again while being able to change the bounds. Alongside this, the bounds must be able to go between frames. Vegas fits this category and thus is the most common tool for this sort of effect.
- A capturing device, like OBS
To make this work, all you need to do is set the bounds of your program to a particular spot, usually a frame apart. Then, start recording. Play the video, making sure it loops. Gradually move one end of the bound closer to the other, and the video will loop faster and faster... at this point, the video will remain a single frame, but the audio will begin to "speed up"! Eventually it will turn into an incredibly high pitched buzz. You can play around with this for a while, moving in and out and seeing what kinds of sounds you can make. You can also drag the barrier itself around to create different sounds based on where you are in the video. If you do it slowly enough, the buzzing can fade into new parts for another really cool sounding effect.
Once you are done messing around, save the recording and import it into your editor. That's it!
