Sound Effects are a classical technique that consists of adding sounds to a video. They could be relevant, irrelevant, it does not matter.
Usage
The addition of sound effects is about as simple as it sounds. Simply go into your NLE of choice, and drag one in. Sound effects can be found easily on YouTube, but can also be purchased in professional "sfx packs".
Sound Effect Generators
Many sound effects can be generated by a computer. This has the added benefit of being copyright-free, as you created them!

sfxr, and its improved fork bfxr is a chiptune sound effect creator, specialized for video games. It has a large variety of waveforms and parameters to make anything you can imagine. Try randomizing and see what you get!
