Layout

As this was the very first chain, the essential "vanilla" rules for how chains proceed were established here. None of the participants go a second time, unlike later chains, but notably at Round 3, Round 2 is completely ignored in favor of editing the serve in its own fashion. The chain progression that follows largely proceeds in an orderly fashion from this point onward, with the length of all the rounds together lasting over an hour. A low point in the chain is generally considered to occur at neilwb23's Round 32, "BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO CHAINPOOP DIED"(2007), due to its incredibly prolific use of the n-word, as sampled from South Park, repeated across its length and becoming a recurring element for the next few rounds. Viewer discretion is advised when viewing this portion of the chain.

All missing rounds except for Round 44 by Gb7Zone7 stand to be recovered through the efforts of The Great Restoration, and seconteen13's concluding Round 51 was the first of these to be restored to YouTube in March 2026. GameBop kept a dedicated archive of the first four official chains on YouTube through the accounts YTPoopChain and YTPChain and is responsible for the continued existence of all other rounds that were since deleted from their original uploads into the present day.
