Unlike the previous and subsequent Doubles Cups, the Doubles Cup 3 opted for 4 round League-style matches in which every single round was made collaboratively, much like the Doubles variant week of the Tennis Season. The event coincided with notable advances in technology since the previous Doubles Cup, such as the use of software such as Parsec which allowed multiple people to work remotely over a single computer, and multiple pairs of teammates utilized this to create their collaborative rounds. The tournament has been retrospectively noted for being a large, last blast of tennis creativity on the YouChew forums, with the ability to now seamlessly collaborate being one of the shining qualities of many matches and individual collab rounds.
