According to co-host {{TheChutley}}, the naming of Grey Tennis Tournament was chosen due to its simplicity and its standardized elimination format.

"It's not supposed to be unique at all, it really is just a standard 6 round tournament. That's why we named it the 'Gray [sic] Tennis Tourney'."

The tournament was organized very similarly to the first [[Tennis Cup]]. Due to these similarities, it was officially recognized as the 3rd Tennis Cup (the 2nd one being the [[Windows Movie Maker Master]]). {{RabbitSnore}}, who ultimately did not join, expressed initial interest in the event and subsequently made a unique usergroup for its participants~~. ferretfreak111's rounds are slated to be potentially restored through the efforts of [[The Great Restoration]]~~.
