			The concept of a "photoshop tennis" has existed since at least the 90's. While the exact origin is unknown, one of the earliest photoshop tennis-''esque'' Internet projects was [https://www.sito.org/synergy/panic/ PANIC] by the SITO art collective, originating in January 1994. SITO has many similar collaborative art projects; one of which, "Grid", was inspiration for a similar project on [[YellowTealPurple]] (which can be seen [https://yellowtealpurple.net/forums/pages/tiles/001/ here.] "Grid" later evolved into the much more well known "[https://www.sito.org/synergy/gridcosm/ Gridcosm]" where each grid would serve as the center of the next grid, creating an [[Recursion\|infinitely-recursive]] art collaboration.

	~~This type of~~ art existed ~~since at least~~ the 90's.		In 2001, art director Jim Coudal coined the term "Photoshop Tennis", eventually renaming the term Layer Tennis. coudal.com, and later layertennis.com hosted these matches; the websites are no longer around but archives exist.

			Just like in video tennis, [[tournaments]] existed; the rules were similar to that of a "cup", however as they were merely photos the turnovers were ''much'' shorter (LTS4 was 15 minutes each!) The final "official" Coudal photoshop tennis tournament, '''Layer Tennis Season 4''', was played in 2014 and sponsored by Adobe.
