The [[Match of the Day]] or '''MOTD''' is a program created by the [[Tennis Staff]] starting on November 2, 2025 to showcase various notable [[tennis]] games around the community, both past and present. Usually, every day a member of the staff offers to select a match which is posted to the Tennis Café as well as a dedicated channel in [[The Tennis Isles]] at the start of the day. These matches are usually compiled to channels like {{maniafax}} (if not done already) so players can watch the whole game in a single video.

The concept originated from a plan by {{dani_phantump}} to show a different match every day to {{infinitysnapz}}, who admitted to being unfamiliar with a lot of old tennis matches due to often keeping off of YouTube, and was soon after expanded into a regular community activity as a way to create a new bridge of knowledge with the history of tennis.

The '''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''' is a currently ongoing [[Tennis Tournament|YouTube Poop/Video Tennis tournament]] that started on December 1, 2024. It is the first tournament of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums era and the first tournament since the [[Tennis League 4]] to be mainly hosted by {{dew}}, making this also the first tournament hosted by an admin of the site it's hosted on since the [[Tennis Season]] in 2009. With the original [[3-Way Tennis Tournament]] having started in early 2010, it is the first time this tournament variant has been played in almost 15 years. The tournament was a return to having unique, individual host accounts used for announcements and voting, and for this competition was "Jonathan Frakes", with {{dew}} theming the tournament and the unveiling of match lineups and votes around a typical episode of ''Beyond Belief''.

This is the first tournament to feature the participation of soundphaseytp, portaldash, {{foldername}}, hitori, mahify, ElijahStar and Media904. It is also a return tournament for multiple of its participants, leading some to term this event as creating a latter-day tennis renaissance; {{dew}} returned after having last played in the [[Doubles Cup 4]] in 2022, {{TheChutley}}, {{ThirtyTwelve}}, {{fiv95}} and TehShadzify returned after having last played in the [[Doubles Cup 3]] in 2017-2018, and {{CheeChee}} returned after having last played in the [[Match Voting Tournament 2]] in 2021. {{Sid}} and CRJ1_ both made guest appearances in Set 2(with the latter becoming a permanent replacement in Set 3), having not appeared in a tennis tournament since the Doubles Cup 3 and the Match Voting Tournament 2 respectively, and NESfanboi made a guest appearance in Set 3, having not appeared since the [[Doubles Cup 2]] in 2011-2012. {{GameBop}} also initially secretly joined under the name DisguisedSqueak43, revealing their true identity 10 days before Set 1 lineups were announced, also making their comeback after 2 years of no video activity period and their first tournament appearance since the Match Voting Tournament 2 as well. {{veritylarsen}} initially signed up, having last played in the [[Multi-Way Tennis Tournament]] in 2014, but then subsequently dropped out for personal reasons without having made any rounds. {{TheChutley}}, {{GameBop}} and NESfanboi were the only players returning from the original [[3-Way Tennis Tournament]]; Additional veteran {{trepmaws}} also started a "[https://yellowtealpurple.net/forums/threads/the-unofficial-3wtt2-lobby-shuffle-signups-open-shuffle-1-matches-posted.692/ Three-Way Lobby Shuffle]" parallel event to make up for all the player slots being filled but there being double the amount of players interested in participating. This marks {{trepmaws}}' own return to tennis after a roughly 7 year gap of any video activity in addition. All current members of the [[tennis staff]] except for {{AngryLuigi23}} were able to secure spots in the tournament.

The event was announced at around Midnight, on the 29th of November 2024, with an announcement video, in the same vain as that of those created for the [[Match Voting Tournament 2]], and [[Doubles Cup 4]]. Two days later, on December 1st, the tournament was revealed to be the ''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''.

==Launch==
The commencement of the tournament coincided with a surprising turn of events in the community, in which several veteran members suddenly made a comeback starting in August of that year, both before and after the launch of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums, largely spearheaded by its two lead admins {{dew}} and {{infinitysnapz}}. It is sometimes seen, in more ways than one, as the potential beginning of a bright new era for tennis, parallel to how the original instance of this tournament ended up marking a transition of eras in and of itself.

=Layout=

Much of the structure of the original tournament was retained for this competition, with the major differences being the turnover times being updated from 3 days to 5, and the maximum round length being eliminated as was such in the first [[Match Voting Tournament]], with a 20 second minimum limit. Conversely, {{trepmaws}}' "Three-Way Lobby Shuffle" established the inverse of this, with rounds deliberately having a 20 second Maximum limit in order to allow for quick, painless participation for all involved(and also happening to fit within a length that many of {{trepmaws}}' own previous videos have matched). This was subsequently doubled to 40 seconds.

There was discussion initially about possible ways to increase the player count from 27, but upon experimental calculations amongst the current tennis staff any possible number was deemed to be too unwieldy, especially for a competition on a new forum with a new burgeoning community. Consequently, signups filled very fast, and it eventually turned out that roughly twice the number of people were interested in participating in the tournament, which was less than what would have been required for a proper extension of signups but still far more than who could actually participate. {{trepmaws}}' parellel event thusly had no maximum limit of participants either, allowing everyone who had signed up as replacements to have something to do while they waited for a chance to participate in the official tournament.

While never officially defined and outlined in the original, the replacements system for this competition was modeled roughly after the replacement events of the previous iteration, highlighting a replacements ability to only need to play for a single round if need be, and to be potentially chosen by the player needing the replacement. Replacements would be selected by the staff from the top of the list down if no preference was given in the event of needing one.

The '''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''' is a currently ongoing [[Tennis Tournament|YouTube Poop/Video Tennis tournament]] that started on December 1, 2024. It is the first tournament of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums era and the first tournament since the [[Tennis League 4]] to be mainly hosted by {{dew}}, making this also the first tournament hosted by an admin of the site it's hosted on since the [[Tennis Season]] in 2009. With the original [[3-Way Tennis Tournament]] having started in early 2010, it is the first time this tournament variant has been played in almost 15 years. The tournament was a return to having unique, individual host accounts used for announcements and voting, and for this competition was "Jonathan Frakes", with {{dew}} theming the tournament and the unveiling of match lineups and votes around a typical episode of ''Beyond Belief''.

This is the first tournament to feature the participation of soundphaseytp, portaldash, {{foldername}}, hitori, mahify, ElijahStar and Media904. The event was announced at around Midnight, on the 29th of November 2024, with an announcement video, in the same vain as that of those created for the [[Match Voting Tournament 2]], and [[Doubles Cup 4]]. Two days later, on December 1st, the tournament was revealed to be the ''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''.

==Launch==
The commencement of the tournament coincided with a surprising turn of events in the community, in which several veteran members suddenly made a comeback starting in August of that year, both before and after the launch of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums, largely spearheaded by its two lead admins {{dew}} and {{infinitysnapz}}. It is sometimes seen, in more ways than one, as the potential beginning of a bright new era for tennis, parallel to how the original instance of this tournament ended up marking a transition of eras in and of itself.

=Layout=

Much of the structure of the original tournament was retained for this competition, with the major differences being the turnover times being updated from 3 days to 5, and the maximum round length being eliminated as was such in the first [[Match Voting Tournament]], with a 20 second minimum limit. Conversely, {{trepmaws}}' "Three-Way Lobby Shuffle" established the inverse of this, with rounds deliberately having a 20 second Maximum limit in order to allow for quick, painless participation for all involved(and also happening to fit within a length that many of {{trepmaws}}' own previous videos have matched). This was subsequently doubled to 40 seconds.

There was discussion initially about possible ways to increase the player count from 27, but upon experimental calculations amongst the current tennis staff any possible number was deemed to be too unwieldy, especially for a competition on a new forum with a new burgeoning community. Consequently, signups filled very fast, and it eventually turned out that roughly twice the number of people were interested in participating in the tournament, which was less than what would have been required for a proper extension of signups but still far more than who could actually participate. {{trepmaws}}' parellel event thusly had no maximum limit of participants either, allowing everyone who had signed up as replacements to have something to do while they waited for a chance to participate in the official tournament.

While never officially defined and outlined in the original, the replacements system for this competition was modeled roughly after the replacement events of the previous iteration, highlighting a replacements ability to only need to play for a single round if need be, and to be potentially chosen by the player needing the replacement. Replacements would be selected by the staff from the top of the list down if no preference was given in the event of needing one.

The [[Tennis Cup 5]] was a Youtube Poop [[tennis tournament]] that took place between June 16, 2023 and August 7, 2024. The 20th tennis tournament overall, it was the first tennis competition of the standard cup variety in over a decade, following the [[Tennis Cup 4]] in 2012, and the fourth and final tournament of the YTPMania era. As the YTPMania forums themselves were seeing almost no use in this era, this event ended up being the biggest source of its site activity through its duration, and was otherwise run mostly over on [[The Tennis Isles]]. This was the third of three tournaments to use the voting account "tournamentacc", described by mrdoognoog as "almost entirely utilitarian" due to Smonge, YTPMania's owner, having a strictness about alt accounts and the "lapse of YouChew knowledge" regarding the community's past history with being more playful with these accounts.<ref>https://ytptennis.com/w/images/d/d2/About_tournamentacc.png Screenshot from Discord</ref> The tournament's eventual winner was infinitysnapz.

In subsequent years, the Tennis Cup 5 has been retrospectively seen as a low point in tennis history. With the presence of absolutely no elder players in the community during this era, some have regarded this as an event where technical proficiency with effects took precedent above all else in the matches that occurred, with the players advancing the farthest being those who took visual editing to its absolute maximum height. Exterior software such as Blender saw very prominent usage, with an extensive focus on massive-in-scope deployment of 3D visual effects across rounds, an approach that has come to be referred to with occasional derision as "Trapezoidium" from 2024 onward. Many players from this tournament have also reserved feelings regarding their negative experiences from it, relating to a combination of performance expectations, percieved requirements to gain respect, and the pressure of having to do so within deadlines. infinitysnapz, the winner of this tournament, has also become increasingly critical of his performance, considering it to have intensified harmful precedents regarding the already prevalent generalizations within tennis:

"i do realise that alot of my popularity and respect comes from the fact that i was the right person in the right place, pushing visual boundaries in just the right way, doing crazy stuff nobody had ever seen before. my TC5 rounds blew alot of minds - and yet.. before 2022 nobody really knew who i was. admittedly, "trapezoidium" is partly responsible for this. the problem is that people think that is the Only way to become popular, which i think is really bad actually. you should not have to learn 3d effects to become popular. if everyone was to copy these 3d effects, the landscape would be very flat and boring. what was once super-impressive becomes a common boring sight, and we would all converge onto the same style, which would be terrible. i suppose to sum it up, i think there is only so much that can be done with blender before the novelty wears off." -infinitysnapz, April 14, 2025

A camera was placed in the middle and spun around with a Lazy Susan, rapidly speeding up until cutting to black.

The [[Kapwing Tennis Cup]] is an unofficial [[Tennis Tournament]] hosted by {{nm41}} on [[YellowTealPurple]] during the summer of 2025.<ref>https://yellowtealpurple.net/forums/threads/the-kapwing-tennis-cup.1684/</ref> Similar to the [[Windows Movie Maker Master]] (WMMM), the tournament is focused on making the most out of a "limited" editor - in this case, the free version of the online editor [[Kapwing]].

The tournament is currently in its infancy, with the first set underway.

The '''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''' is a currently ongoing [[Tennis Tournament|YouTube Poop/Video Tennis tournament]] that started on December 1, 2024. It is the first tournament of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums era and the first tournament since the [[Tennis League 4]] to be mainly hosted by {{dew}}, making this also the first tournament hosted by an admin of the site it's hosted on since the [[Tennis Season]] in 2009. With the original [[3-Way Tennis Tournament]] having started in early 2010, it is the first time this tournament variant has been played in almost 15 years. The tournament was a return to having unique, individual host accounts used for announcements and voting, and for this competition was "Jonathan Frakes", with {{dew}} theming the tournament and the unveiling of match lineups and votes around a typical episode of ''Beyond Belief''.

This is the first tournament to feature the participation of soundphaseytp, portaldash, {{foldername}}, hitori, mahify, ElijahStar and Media904. It is also a return tournament for multiple of its participants, leading some to term this event as creating a latter-day tennis renaissance; {{dew}} returned after having last played in the [[Doubles Cup 4]] in 2022, {{TheChutley}}, {{ThirtyTwelve}}, {{fiv95}} and TehShadzify returned after having last played in the [[Doubles Cup 3]] in 2017-2018, and {{CheeChee}} returned after having last played in the [[Match Voting Tournament 2]] in 2021. {{Sid}} and CRJ1_ both made guest appearances in Set 2(with the latter becoming a permanent replacement in Set 3), having not appeared in a tennis tournament since the Doubles Cup 3 and the Match Voting Tournament 2 respectively, and NESfanboi made a guest appearance in Set 3, having not appeared since the [[Doubles Cup 2]] in 2011-2012. {{GameBop}} also initially secretly joined under the name DisguisedSqueak43, revealing their true identity 10 days before Set 1 lineups were announced, also making their comeback after 2 years of no video activity period and their first tournament appearance since the Match Voting Tournament 2 as well. {{veritylarsen}} initially signed up, having last played in the [[Multi-Way Tennis Tournament]] in 2014, but then subsequently dropped out for personal reasons without having made any rounds. {{TheChutley}}, {{GameBop}} and NESfanboi were the only players returning from the original [[3-Way Tennis Tournament]]; Additional veteran {{trepmaws}} also started a "[https://yellowtealpurple.net/forums/threads/the-unofficial-3wtt2-lobby-shuffle-signups-open-shuffle-1-matches-posted.692/ Three-Way Lobby Shuffle]" parallel event to make up for all the player slots being filled but there being double the amount of players interested in participating. This marks {{trepmaws}}' own return to tennis after a roughly 7 year gap of any video activity in addition. The event was announced at around Midnight, on the 29th of November 2024, with an announcement video, in the same vain as that of those created for the [[Match Voting Tournament 2]], and [[Doubles Cup 4]]. Two days later, on December 1st, the tournament was revealed to be the ''3-Way Tennis Tournament 2''.

==Launch==
The commencement of the tournament coincided with a surprising turn of events in the community, in which several veteran members suddenly made a comeback starting in August of that year, both before and after the launch of the [[YellowTealPurple]] forums, largely spearheaded by its two lead admins {{dew}} and {{infinitysnapz}}. It is sometimes seen, in more ways than one, as the potential beginning of a bright new era for tennis, parallel to how the original instance of this tournament ended up marking a transition of eras in and of itself.

=Layout=

Much of the structure of the original tournament was retained for this competition, with the major differences being the turnover times being updated from 3 days to 5, and the maximum round length being eliminated as was such in the first [[Match Voting Tournament]], with a 20 second minimum limit. Conversely, {{trepmaws}}' "Three-Way Lobby Shuffle" established the inverse of this, with rounds deliberately having a 20 second Maximum limit in order to allow for quick, painless participation for all involved(and also happening to fit within a length that many of {{trepmaws}}' own previous videos have matched). This was subsequently doubled to 40 seconds.

There was discussion initially about possible ways to increase the player count from 27, but upon experimental calculations amongst the current tennis staff any possible number was deemed to be too unwieldy, especially for a competition on a new forum with a new burgeoning community. Consequently, signups filled very fast, and it eventually turned out that roughly twice the number of people were interested in participating in the tournament, which was less than what would have been required for a proper extension of signups but still far more than who could actually participate. {{trepmaws}}' parellel event thusly had no maximum limit of participants either, allowing everyone who had signed up as replacements to have something to do while they waited for a chance to participate in the official tournament.

While never officially defined and outlined in the original, the replacements system for this competition was modeled roughly after the replacement events of the previous iteration, highlighting a replacements ability to only need to play for a single round if need be, and to be potentially chosen by the player needing the replacement. Replacements would be selected by the staff from the top of the list down if no preference was given in the event of needing one.

The [[Kapwing Tennis Cup]] is an unofficial [[Tennis Tournament]] hosted by {{nm41}} on [[YellowTealPurple]] during the summer of 2025.<ref>https://yellowtealpurple.net/forums/threads/the-kapwing-tennis-cup.1684/</ref> Similar to the [[Windows Movie Maker Master]] (WMMM), the tournament is focused on making the most out of a "limited" editor - in this case, the free version of the online editor [[Kapwing]].

The tournament is currently in its infancy, with the first set underway.

The primary rule is to only use the Kapwing video editor. Continuing from the YellowTealPurple thread:

"This tournament will consist of 8 participants, a single elimination bracket, with a turnover of 4 days, because frankly there is no need to take more than a week for a video like this. Participants may only use Kapwing to serve and volley with, no other programs are allowed, and make sure to put your tournament threads in the tournament section. If someone drops out mid-set, people are free to sign up as a replacement to sub in for them."
