Chain 2 was the second official YTP/Video tennis chain, taking place on the YouChew forums between April 26, 2008 and June 23, 2009. It was started and originally hosted by ShadowWario/FancySanta with his serve (now lost) and concluded with Aesaun's Round 53, the third to last video Aesaun ever made. ShadowWario/FancySanta's original aspiration to either equal or surpass the achievement of the original chain was achieved, and it remains the longest "official" chain to ever take place of the currently designated six. Subsequent outside chain formats such as Missadaxio would surpass this length by several hundreds of times.

With GameBop as the dedicated co-host of the chain, ShadowWario took an unexpected hiatus on May 22, 2008 and left them in charge of managing it, but as they were at that point unable to make changes to the thread's OP, had to rely on a subsequent post through which they could make their changes for the next month. Their organization of the Chain 2 ended up being their avenue to becoming the newest addition to the tennis staff on June 23, from which point they were able to gain the desired access to the thread's OP and keep up operations in the chain more seamlessly as a regularly alternating host and co-host. Over a year after the chain completed, it became one of the first tennis event threads to be necrobumped by IceSumo, expressing a wish to have joined it.

GameBop, ophios, strong414bad, Ikwaylx, GameCubeHero, TangerineImpz, KingCornholio, BMATF, LightningSpike, SesakaGenX, scimath12 and 3inchhorse all returned from the original chain to contribute to its sequel. GameBop kept a dedicated archive of the first four official chains on the YouTube accounts YTPoopChain and YTPChain to ensure that as little as possible became lost, and as a result Chain 2 is the earliest of the official chains in the best preservation; only ShadowWario/FancySanta's serve remains lost with no trace. The rest of the rounds were first compiled into a single video on the YouWouldBeWelcome account in January 2023.
